6/11/2009:  (Rebuttal by Gabriella):  "Just a rootin'-tootin' minute!  Let me explalin!  I had just been left by the only human I had known the whole entire 2 years of my life!  I was scared to death!  I watched Lucy go off to her new forever home, and I realized this adoption stuff wasn't so bad.  I might be able to find a new forever home, too!  Please just be patient with me.  Please cuddle me when I shiver in thunderstorms, and please don't yell around me. I even give "High-Five" to show her that I miss you when you come home.    I give lots of kisses, too!  And I love to cuddle.
I am good with all the cats here, too.  Just wanted to explain why I was not very keen on making friends at first, but I'm o.k. now.  Better than o.k.!!   I'm the best dog in the house!  Oh, yeah, I even sleep with the little girl now; she's not so scary after all. She is really nice to me, and gives me little buscuits when I sit!  Thanks for letting me explain, Gabriella."

5/31/2009:  Gabriella is the cousin of Lucy.  Also a purebred, registered Jack Russell. She is the much desired "shorty" version of the Jack Russell.  Her legs are very low to the ground, so she has to hop through the grass like a bunny!  Not being socialized by her previous owner, it took her a long while to have the slightest thing to with me, other than to growl or nip at me, after she came out from under the bed.  She will require an experienced dog person, or at least someone with the patience to wait for her to come around.    She will be well worth it, when she does!
She had not been socialized at all, has been with her previous owner constantly all of her life.  Her owner had to surrender her because of her loss of job and home.  Gabby is trying to figure out what is going on, and why she is not with her mom.  She is very afraid of small children, so she should go to a home where the kids are over 8 years of age.  She is also very frightened of thunderstorms, and really reacts when one pases.  If one passes in the night, she becomes especially upset.   She is a lightning fast runner outside, and will require a fenced in yard, an electric fence, or a really big farm with boundaries.   Because of what she has been through, I am taking a couple of weeks to help her get acclamated to people and her new surroundings.  She will just need a patient soul who will give her the space she needs, and wait for her to come around.
