About Jack

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Jack Male Border Collie mix Approx. Age: 4 years Good with Dogs: yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Children: x_ All ages Housetrained: _Yes x No __Some (working on) Crate Trained: _Yes __No x Some  Will be up to date on immunizations and neutered by end of training.  Available for adoption on October 9, 2006 Jack is a 4 year old male Border Collie mix who entered the Campbell County Animal Shelter on August 4, 2006. ROSA’S first saw Jack in his kennel looking very depressed because his family abandoned him when they couldn’t afford the bail out fine at the shelter. Imagine what it’s like to have your family leave you in a strange place and never return for you. On August 24th, Jack was selected to participate in “The RIGHTT Program”, Rosa’s Inmates Give Hope Through Training. Jack is lucky to have a trained handler teach him social skills, manners, how to walk nicely on leash, how to listen and focus. The first day in the program, Jack was wagging his tail and giving eye contact to his handler as though he was saying “thanks for caring about me”. Jack seems to be grateful for attention and a chance to learn. In his previous life, he lived outside and slept in a doghouse. After training, he will be ready to be an indoor dog who enjoys spending fun time with his family both inside and outside. His handler will teach him how to listen, respond to simple commands, and engage him in play and daily exercise. The handler is trained to be firm but fair and consistent. That way, the dog knows what is expected of him and strives to please the handler. Wouldn’t you like a dog who wants to please you, is happy to follow directions, and enjoys spending special time with you every day? Jack is being treated for heartworm, stage 1 out of 3, and is doing great. Only 1 more treatment to go. If you want to foster him while he recuperates or just want to adopt him outright, please let us know. He is one of the sweetest boys I have ever met. He just needs a family to love. If interested in Jack, please email ROSA’s rescue at zinkk0@aol.com or phone 859-694-7672 (rosa). We do what we do for love and respect of the animals. Thank you for caring, too!
